She eventually rose to become Bureau Chief. Judge Rao is a graduate of Vassar College and Fordham University School of Law. In 2004, she was assigned to the Special Prosecutions Bureau where she handled a variety of investigations and prosecutions, including frauds involving mortgages, housing and securities as well as computer crimes. She was assigned to the trial division, where, in addition to prosecuting street crime cases, she served in the Domestic Violence Unit and the Welfare Fraud Unit, according to a bio on the Asian Women in Business which had her on its list of “Asian Women Prosecutors and the Pursuit of Justice: in 2013. She joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in 2001. She last served as Bureau Chief of the Financial Frauds Bureau. She has spent her entire career so far with the New York County District Attorney’s Office working in several bureaus during her 17 year tenure there, is a new appointee, according to a press release from the Mayor’s office Jan. Judge Archana Rao was appointed by the Mayor to Civil Court and has been assigned to Criminal Court. She is still active teaching students, and in the role of an administrator. In 2005 she received a doctorate from Tunanathmaka Pariseelana. Currently she runs a dance school by Sree Raja Rajeswari Arts Academy, in Tirupathi, and also works as a Kuchipudi lecturer at Tirumal Tirupathi Devasthanam. Almost at the same time she started choreographing dance pieces too. She started performing solo dances in her 20s. She took Master’s in Kuchipudi from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Hyderabad, before she started off with independent career. She received training in Kuchipudi from Pasumarthi Sheshubabu, Bhagavatula Sethuram, Uma ramarao, Chinta aadinarayana Sharma, Vedantam Radhe Sharma etc. Her mother is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She got inspired from Shobha Naidu and Sree & Smt Raja and Radha Reddy, and later took up the dance form. Raajyalaxmi are her parents, who encouraged her to pursue a career in dance form. She is of Hyderabad origin, born in Chennai in 1966. She has won Natyamayuri Award, and many awards at state and national levels, and a National scholarship for young artists too. She is a recipient of Sangeeta Nataka Akademi Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for dedication towards Kuchipudi dance. Usha started performing at a young age and has performed across India as well as a few cities in abroad. She learnt the dance form from many gurus and also Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. Usha Srinivasan commonly known as Usha is an exponent of Kuchipudi dance form.
